Dear eBay customers,
Please stop overpaying for items just because they may be collectors items when they are merely OK items at best. You see, a Nikon N80 popped up on eBay recently. Just an average, standard N80. And while this may be an excellent camera for $50, the price really shouldn’t rise above $150 unless it’s got some insanely good glass on the front of it. However, as E! online reports, this particular N80 belongs to the star of Tony’s Twerking dreams, Miss Miley Cyrus – the love child of achey breaky hearts everywhere. And once that fact got out, the price skyrocketed.
Sorry, but $11,000. For a generic SLR. Don’t get me wrong – I love SLRs. But a typical (decent) film SLR costs about $135 these days, and that is about how much they are worth. You see, the problem with this celebrity-related price inflation is that other eBay sellers are going to see this, think “Ermagahd I can make monies on the eBay”, and then those assholes are going to try and sell their stuff for grossly exaggerated prices. And some of you, not knowing any better, will pay them.
It makes me just want to smash the website with a Wrecking Ball. Also, Miley – please stick to foam fingers and leave our film cameras alone.
